One of RKT’s specialties is the production and injection molding of high-cavity tools – tools of eight cavities or more. RKT has extensive experience in the production of 8, 32, 64, and even 128 cavity tools to simultaneously mold multiple parts in a single injection cycle. For example, RKT currently produces 128 injection molded parts per cycle for insulin needles, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on state-of-the-art machines, supported by fully automated high-speed linear handling systems.

Absolutely Identical Cavities

High cavity molds present the challenge of ensuring consistent dimensions, surface quality, and specification across many parts in a single tool. Part variation in the tool cavities, their installation, and even cooling can result in part inconsistencies. The failure of parts to simultaneously demold cleanly from their cavities can interrupt and disrupt the injection molding process. Attention to detail is crucial when replacing damaged or worn cavities to maintain the required part consistency. RKT achieves this through precise tool production, ensuring uniform dimensions, surface finish, and overall quality of the mold and its cavities.

High-Cavity Tools Best for Simpler Components

High-cavity molds are ideal for smaller components, particularly if they are simpler in design and required in high volume. However, they often can’t fit standard injection molding machines for 2K and 3K applications. Therefore, more than eight cavities aren’t usually suitable for multi-component injection molding parts
